Forever Young, I am my mother's son
If it's where I belong, then Lord, please take me home
Though I grow, I don't feel old
When I go, I still miss home
So don't go, don't fall,
I'm wherever you are
As long as you still take me home
It's After Midnight, and I'm still my father's son
If this is where I belong, I must've done something wrong
Though I grow, I don't feel old
When I go, I still miss you
Take me home
i wrote this over a decade ago as i was leaving home - family, friends, love and everything comforting at the time
playing this song live, my favourite part was always getting a room full of people to sing along. the comfort of home emerged from the voices of total strangers coming together, singing a song they had never heard before
some thought they weren’t singers and joined with hesitation
some were better singers than me! they improvised beautiful harmonies i can still hear. you'll hear my memory of them on this record
i always wanted to record this song in a room of friends and strangers
but a decade later, both the home i wrote about and the world look different
so a new set of friends & strangers came together from their homes to create a choir from afar. to them, i am grateful for the chance to feel that comfort again
may their voices together bring
him
health,
and bring you the comfort of home
as it has brought me

This album says more with the space between notes than most albums do in their entire lyrics sheet. One of my favourite albums of all time, hands down. Listen to it! Jamie Bell
This album connects me to everything I ought to be connected to, and lets me soak in it. It makes me feel something I've only felt a few times in my life, and it does so consistently! Thanks Mitch! Jamie Bell
Painfully earnest hooks that will pull you out of yourself. An album that is way better than it has any business being. I've been listening to these guys since 2007, and everything they do is magic! Jamie Bell
Introspective, homespun folk tunes from John Donne that feel informed by the sugary bleakness of '80s and '90s indie pop. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 1, 2023
